Wendy Burch Communications
recognizes that an athlete's media opportunities don’t need
to end when his or her playing days are done. For many, retiring
from their sport can open up new doors in the area of sports broadcasting.
However, the pressure to perform
with on-air excellence is intense, and even the best athletes are
often given only one chance to make a first impression.
For those who are given on-camera opportunities, audiences expect
athletes to perform as well in the broadcast booth as they did on
the playing field. Those audiences, who may have been fans of the
player, can become unforgiving of the broadcast performer.
Our Hall-of-Fame
Broadcast Training Program for athletes, near the end of their professional careers, is designed for those seriously looking for opportunities in sports broadcasting. Wendy Burch Communications has developed a comprehensive training program for athletes preparing for broadcasting opportunities, or for those former athletes who want to improve their current on-air performance.
Athletes participating in
our Hall-of-Fame Broadcast Training program will benefit
from Wendy Burch’s extensive career in front of the camera.
Wendy will teach athletes the tricks of the trade - including how
to read from a teleprompter with ease, how to work with an IFB,
and how to prepare for, and execute, flawless live broadcasts.
Athletes will also receive
an exclusive play-book, chalk full of guidelines any
on-air talent needs to know - including technical terms and other
aspects of behind-the-scenes broadcasting. Wendy has also consulted
dozens of successful athletes-turned-broadcasters and compiled their
thoughts and suggestions on ways to improve performance. Through
our training, there is no need for our athletes to ever ‘learn
the hard way’ when entering the new arena of sports broadcasting.
